Shenmue Anime Series Canceled
Shenmue: The Animation, Adult Swim’s co-production Shenmue anime with Crunchyroll, has been canceled. Season 2 was reportedly already in the works before the cancellation, and the news was shared Wednesday via Twitter by Jason DeMarco, the senior vice president of action and anime programming for Warner Discovery.
The anime adapting the cult classic Sega game was first announced back in September 2020, and then aired in February this year. Season 1 has already been removed from Adult Swim and other streaming sites but as of this writing will continue to be available on Crunchyroll. It’s being speculated that the show unceremoniously got the ax as part of a wider purge by Warner Discovery of its properties following its merger earlier this year. You can read DeM…
Netflix Movie From Adam Sandler Adds Kevin James To Its Cast As NFL Coach
The rumored new Netflix movie Home Team, which hails from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison production company, has cast one of its leads. Kevin James, a frequent collaborator with Sandler, is apparently going to play New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton in the upcoming football movie.
This news comes from noted NFL insider Peter King. He revealed that the story of Home Team begins in 2012, which was when Payton was suspended for a year due to his involvement in his team’s plan to purposefully injure other players as part of what was called “bountygate.”
During his time away from the NFL, Payton coached his son’s team of sixth graders, and this same story will be featured in the movie. According to King, Payton is involved with the movie, too. He recently read the script and…

When actor Sean Bean shows up in a movie, it’s understood that his character is probably going to die. In a new interview with ScreenRant, Bean discussed this phenomenon and revealed which on-screen death is his favorite from over the years.
Bean played Boromir in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings series, and his character had a very memorable death scene in The Fellowship of the Ring. He was tempted by the power of the One ring, but he ultimately did the right thing and sacrificed himself to save the hobbits. This was Bean’s favorite on-screen death in his decades of acting.
“I suppose the best death was Boromir in Lord of the Rings, that was a very epic kind of death, it was very emotional, very moving, and Peter Jackson allowed me enough time to die and milk it, and g…

Nintendo Almost Made The GameCube Look Like Poop
The Nintendo GameCube was not Nintendo’s most successful console, but it remains beloved by many, and it just celebrated its 20th anniversary. VGC ran a wide-ranging retrospective on the console, and the full thing is worth a read, but there are some notable standout sections. One of these involves the different colors that Nintendo considered before settling on purple.
As it turns out, one of the colors presented to Nintendo higher-ups was “poopy” brown. Former marketing boss Perrin Kaplan told the site about a meeting in early 2001 when this was being discussed.
“We were called in to rate which colors we liked,” Kaplan said. “There must have been 30 GameCube box samples in there and the colours ranged from ‘poopy’ brown to crazy and striking prime colors. I remember some w…
Sony Reportedly Charges $25,000 For PlayStation Store Visibility
A “very successful console [maker that] does not have Game Pass” charges indie devs $25,000 USD to get discounts and feature spots on the platform, according to Neon Doctrine co-founder Iain Garner.
Garner took to Twitter to air out his frustrations with “Platform X.” Garner never identified the console maker but clarified that Game Pass doesn’t exist on the manufacturer’s platform, ruling out PC and Xbox consoles. Speculation has suggested the platform holder in question is Sony, and a subsequent tweet from Whitehorn Games CEO Matthew White laments the troubles his studio has encountered on this same platform. While not outright using Sony’s name, White strongly suggests it’s the PlayStation maker being referred to. White also notes that he used to work at “Platform X”; his Linke…
